Details matter: Which wood is used for a violin

In most cases, a violin consists of 4 types of wood. These are all required to allow the violin to create a natural spread of tone, and to create the strength needed to support the strings, the bridge and all the force a player can throw at it.

Wood needs to be aged in order for it to slowly dry before it is ready to be used. Some of the wood that I use is as old as 70 years before it is used to make an instrument.

Also the tree itself, the speed at which it grew is of importance.
